Today I went to a meeting for the Greater Virginia Peninsula
Homeless Consortium. We discussed the Landlord Partnership event that will take
place on September 29, 2016. I was able to share several ideas that I had for
the event. I then had my weekly meeting with my supervisor Mike. Then Danielle
gave the interns a list of landlords to call and get email addresses from so
that we could send them flyers for the upcoming event. We also asked for
information about property availability. Most of the people were willing to
share the information. A little bit later I went on a visit to see a client
with Mrs. Williams. The client had been placed in a hotel along with her 18
year old son. She is attempting to get a new section 8 voucher. She felt unsafe
due to and incident with her son. She left her old apartment before she had
been there a year and is having to fight the apartment complex and person who reissues
vouchers about leaving.
